2019 Rides & Classes

Through advocacy and education, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia is leading the movement to make bicycling a safe and fun way to get around for all Philadelphians. Using Indego bicycles, the Bicycle Coalition hosts educational programs, connecting communities to a convenient, healthy, and affordable transportation option. As this season kicks off, here is a break down of each type of ride and class that is offered, including Indego’s new Champions Program.

The Monthly Ride Series

Group rides can help you build new skills, gain confidence on a bike, and have fun! Indego’s Monthly Ride Series, led by the Bicycle Coalition, helps folks practice city biking in the safety of a group. Each month, this ride takes place at a different part of the city and aims to connect riders with information about Philadelphia’s free resources.

These 40 to 60-minute, easy-paced rides, are geared at helping beginner cyclists feel more comfortable riding in urban environments. All rides start at Indego stations & explore the surrounding area.

Our Skill-Building Course is a two hour, on-bike, outdoor or indoor class that prepares cyclists for safe riding in urban areas. In this class, you will navigate a skill-building obstacle course, which is not only a fun challenge but also a great way to learn real-world skills to help you ride around the city confidently and safely.

If you are a savvy cyclist looking to know more about your rights and duties as a cyclist, the Urban Riding Basics class is just for you! This is an indoor, discussion-based class that covers the benefits of biking, encourages good cycling behavior, and reviews bike infrastructure and laws. We also cover urban riding techniques and tips, equipment usage, and introduce folks to Indego.
