SUMMARY:Second Saturday Guided Hike Series: Tree Tour with Andrew Kirkpatrick
DESCRIPTION:From their event page:  \nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and Andrew Kirkpatrick\, Urban Greening Coordinator with Parks and Recreation’s Farm Philly Program\, for a two-mile tree identification hike along the Belmont Plateau Cross Country Course and the historic Trolley Trail. \nFrom sweetgums to tulip poplars to a variety of oaks— our urban forests are teeming with many tree species. On this hike\, we’ll learn to identify commonly found trees based on leaves\, branches\, and bark. We’ll take time to observe the body language of trees\, why they grow the way they do\, and what we can learn about the life of the forest. \nThis hike is part of our Second Saturday Guided Hike Series. These hikes occur from 10 AM–12 PM on the second Saturday of every month (May–November). All of these hikes depart from Belmont Plateau in West Fairmount Park. Please see below for the full schedule.

SUMMARY:Cranksgiving Philly 2025
DESCRIPTION:🚲 Cranksgiving is a bicycle-powered scavenger hunt-style food drive where participants scour the city to purchase food from various “checkpoints” listed on a manifest. Folks can race to compete for prizes\, take a leisurely ride towards the finish line\, or just bring some donations to drop off at the end! All collected food will be donated to local hunger relief organizations. \n🥙 Since its inception in 2011\, Cranksgiving Philly has raised and donated over 18 tons of food and over $10\,000 in cash directly to Philabundance. We’re happy to keep this tradition alive in Philadelphia for another year and hope that you’ll join us. \n**This event is open and welcoming to all cyclists!**
