SUMMARY:Second Saturday Guided Hike: Family Hike + Bioblitz with the Philadelphia Zoo
DESCRIPTION:From their event page: \nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and the Philadelphia Zoo for a family hike and BioBlitz around Concourse Lake in West Fairmount Park on Saturday\, May 9 from 10 AM-12 PM.  \nMeet other families\, connect with the park system\, and learn about local plant and animal species as we go on a 1.5-mile hike to West Fairmount Park’s Centennial and Concourse Lakes. As we hike\, an educator from the Zoo will conduct a cooperative BioBlitz. During this BioBlitz\, participants will look for wildlife and plants and identify them. This information is an important part of learning about our wild spaces and tracking the health of the ecosystem.  \nThis hike is part of the Zoo’s ‘250\,000 Actions for Animals Initiative’. Throughout 2026\, the Zoo is hoping to track 250\,00 Actions for Animals from anywhere in the world. Actions can fall into several categories\, including Contributing to Conservation Knowledge (like the BioBlitz) and Introducing Others to Nature (be sure to bring a friend!). \nThis hike is part of our Second Saturday Guided Hike Series. These hikes occur from 10 AM–12 PM\, with some exceptions\, on the second Saturday of every month (April–November). Second Saturday hikes are at various locations.

SUMMARY:Learn to Ride Class with Wynnefield Community Neighborhood Association (WCNA)
DESCRIPTION:Join The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia (BGCP)\,  Indego\, and the Wynnefield Community Neighborhood Association (WNCA) for a FREE two-hour Learn to Ride class that teaches adults and teens 14 years of age and up how to ride a bicycle (or remember how to ride a bicycle) as a part of the Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP). This class is perfect for those who have never ridden a bike or have not ridden in a long time.  \nWCNA improves quality of life by strengthening\, empowering\, educating\, and supporting the community. They promote civic engagement\, neighborhood safety\, and public dialogue; advocate for preservation; support government services; and collaborate with local partners\, city agencies\, and community organizations. Through initiatives like Town Watch\, cleanups\, and community events\, they foster strong relationships and an engaged\, connected neighborhood. \nBCGP Staff will teach participants how to balance\, pedal\, start\, stop\, steer\, and shift gears. \n Participants will receive the following: \n     -Free Indego Sunglasses\n     -Free Indego Helmet \n     -Free Indego 30-day pass\n     -Free Water bottle \n     -Free Better Bike Share Partnership Drawstring bag \n*Height Restrictions: The bikes we use for the class are recommended for 5’2″ and up.
