SUMMARY:Pedal for Peace Group Ride with the 12th PPD
DESCRIPTION:About the Ride: \nJoin Indego\, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia (BCGP)\, and the 12th Philadelphia Police District for a Pedal for Peace Group Ride in Southwest Philadelphia.   \nOur goal is to create unity and address the gun violence in our city through a community-led bike ride. This beginner-friendly ride promotes public safety and community connection while highlighting local neighborhood hubs throughout West and Southwest Philadelphia. The ride will be escorted by the Philadelphia Police Department to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. \nPlease note: This ride will roll out at 9 AM\, please plan to arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 AM. \nRide Details: \n\n •This ride is beginner-friendly and will move at a leisurely pace.\n •All Indego bikes used during this ride will be Indego Electric bikes \n •Participants must be at least 16 or older to ride an Indego Electric bike. A parent or guardian must accompany all minors. No exceptions. \n •Free helmets\, snacks\, water\, and swag will be provided for registered participants.\n •All rides are led by trained staff from the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia\, and participants are expected to follow the Rules of the Road.\n •All participants should be able to confidently ride a bicycle for the duration of the group ride.\n\nRegistration & Important Info: \n\n •Please let ride leaders know about any medical conditions prior to the ride.\n •Indego riders should plan to stay with the group for the entire ride.\n •Height Restriction: Indego bikes are recommended for riders 5’2″ and taller. DESCRIPTION:From their event page: \nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and Fair Amount Food Forest for a garden tour and herbal workshop in East Fairmount Park on Saturday\, August 8 from 10 AM–12 PM. \nFirst\, we’ll take a tour of the Fair Amount Food Forest\, a community-based\, publicly-accessible\, and educational food forest garden located outside Woodford Mansion in Fairmount Park. Attendees will participate in a hands-on workshop where they will make salt and sugar skin-care scrubs and learn how to cook with common summer herbs such as lavender\, sage\, rosemary\, and thyme. \nABOUT FAIR AMOUNT FOOD FOREST: Fair Amount Food Forest is a community farm and educational garden on roughly two acres in East Fairmount Park\, whose landscape is diversely planted with fruits\, nuts\, berries\, herbs\, and vegetables. The landscape is intentionally planted to mimic a natural ecosystem\, provide healthy produce to residents and volunteers\, and serve as an educational public garden that benefits and engages its local community. \nTICKETS: Free**\, donations appreciated.
