SUMMARY:Discovery Day: Rock Climbing and Environmental Resource Fair
DESCRIPTION:Discovery Days are monthly events at the Discovery Center that are free and open to the public. These events are co-hosted by Philadelphia Outward Bound School (POBS) and Audubon Mid-Atlantic (AMA). Each month provides opportunities for community members to experience different adventures and activities related to the outdoors. Come visit! \nIn March\, POBS will be offering free rock climbing at our indoor rock wall. The activity is suitable for participants of any experience level\, including beginners\, ages 8 and up. POBS will provide equipment and instruction. Four climbing sessions will be offered over the course of the day on a first come\, first serve basis. Participants must fill out a risk and liability waiver in order to participate. Children and youth must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older. \nAudubon Mid-Atlantic will be hosting an Environmental Resource Fair from 11-3pm\, and the launch of our Resource Library from 2-3:30pm! \n\n\nCheck out the resource fair near the Parking Lot (or in the great hall if it rains) and receive resources from organizations that are building sustainable\, healthy communities and ecosystems. Come to Audubon’s table around 1:30pm to listen about our sustainability work! If you are interested in tabling at the fair\, fill out this form. We are also partnering with Energy Coordinating Agency who will provide a PGW Conservation Workshop with DIY kits from 11:30-1pm. Click here to sign up! \n\n\nWalk up the trail to our Lobby to celebrate the launch of our brand new Resource Library! Brief orientation sessions will take place at the top of the hour from 10 am-1 pm. Please wear work shoes or boots and long sleeves. Gloves and safety equipment will be provided. SUMMARY:Relics and Ruins: West Park
DESCRIPTION:From their event page:  \nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy’s John Sigmund\, Director of Partnerships and Sponsorships and park history enthusiast\, for a three-mile guided hike to explore the relics and ruins of Fairmount Park. \nAs one of America’s oldest urban parks\, Fairmount Park has accumulated many layers of history – sometimes literally! A closer exploration of the landscape reveals the ruins of abandoned infrastructure and buildings that go back to the beginnings of the 178-year-old park system and occasionally\, even further. Most of the year\, nature cloaks these hidden treasures in dense growth\, but the bare woods of winter provide the perfect time to go off the beaten path. \nIf you’re fascinated by Philly history and discovering hidden treasures of the park’s past\, this hike is not to be missed! \nThis is the event page for the March 21 West Park hike; however\, there will also be an East Park hike on March 7 (more info here). Sign up for one date or for both! \nPlease note\, this hike will have some challenging sections that require agility. Since we will occasionally venture off trail\, you are encouraged to wear sturdy hiking boots and rugged outerwear that can withstand scrapes from sharp sticks and branches (please\, no fashion or formal wear! :)). \nEstimated distance: about three miles\nLevel: moderate\nTerrain: mainly hilly trails

SUMMARY:Trolley Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:From their event page:  \nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and a rotating set of local run clubs (see schedule below) for a 4.5-mile trail run along West Fairmount Park’s historic Trolley Trail. Whether you’re training for an upcoming race\, looking to connect with other runners\, or just want to get to know the trail system better\, this run series provides the perfect opportunity. \nTrail runs will be led by a Fairmount Park Conservancy staff person\, in partnership with a local run club leaders (see schedule below). At a few points along the run\, we’ll stop and talk about the past and present of the Trolley Trail\, which roughly follows the route of the old Fairmount Park Trolley that operated from 1896-1946. We’ll even run through some of the physical remains of what is now a hidden trolley network. \nEach run will have multiple pace groups; however\, in order to finish before sunset\, runners should be able to consistently run for 4.5 miles on trails. While this run series is in partnership with local run clubs\, you do not need to be part of the run club to attend. Each event will be a mix of runners from that club and runners from the general public. Join for one run or for all four!

SUMMARY:Community First Plan Focus Group
DESCRIPTION:Parkway Central Library – Room 405 – 1901 Vine Street\n\n\n\n\nThis in-person community focus group is part of Friends of the Rail Park’s Community First Plan\, an effort to understand how the Rail Park can grow in ways that reflect its values and responsibilities to the neighborhoods it runs through. These conversations help guide how we approach growth with care and accountability while exploring how we can amplify work being done within our communities and what connections we can make to further their causes. \nThe discussion will explore how the Rail Park can support economic opportunity\, housing\, culture\, and the environment\, centering the experiences and priorities of people who live and work nearby. \nA project of this scale should not grow or change without the voices of the communities it runs through and alongside. The Community First Plan places those voices at the center to help ensure the Rail Park benefits neighborhoods in meaningful\, tangible ways. \nRSVP below as a community member or volunteer to help us make sure there’s enough food for everyone! \nAll participants will receive a Visa gift card. Food and childcare will be provided. \nIf you need any accommodations\, including translation or food options\, please email us at friends@therailpark.org.

SUMMARY:The Philadelphia Flower Show
DESCRIPTION:World-renowned and local exhibitors bring an extraordinary range of floral\, landscape\, and botanical artistry to life\, from immersive garden displays to iconic spaces like the Hamilton Horticourt and Design Gallery. The theme this year is Rooted: Origins of American Gardening. Gardens aren’t just made; they’re passed down through generations\, carried across oceans\, lifetimes\, and lands. The 2026 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show celebrates the stories that ground us in gardening\, whether it’s the nostalgia of a grandparent’s garden\, a beloved family recipe that begins with the bright scent of freshly picked herbs and vegetables\, or the heritage traditions that shape how we plant\, grow\, and gather.
