SUMMARY:Chair Yoga at The Yard
DESCRIPTION:Join Fairmount Park Conservancy\, the Strawberry Mansion CDC\, and instructor Dara Palmer for a free chair yoga* program at The Yard on Coltrane Street! \nChair yoga allows for stretching and increasing flexibility while seated\, making it suitable for different ages and ranges of mobility. Folding chairs will be set up in The Yard\, a new outdoor public space managed by the Strawberry Mansion CDC and located at the neighborhood edge of East Fairmount Park behind the famous John Coltrane House. \n*While the program will be catered towards chair yoga\, mats are also welcome. \nThis programming is supported by Reimagining the Civic Commons\, a collaboration of The JPB Foundation\, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation\, The Kresge Foundation\, and local partners. \nABOUT DARA: Dara is a yoga teacher\, educator\, and space-holder for soulful healing. She created TheDvinedYogi to help people reconnect with themselves through intentional movement\, breath\, and stillness. With over a decade of experience in education and a deep love for holistic wellness\, Dara offers classes that are heart-centered\, grounding\, and accessible to all. \nWhether flowing together in person or virtually from your living room\, her mission is to create a space where you can be your full self — supported\, seen\, and empowered. Her classes blend mindful movement\, spiritual grounding\, and joy. Dara believes yoga is not about the pose — it’s about the feeling\, the release\, the return to self. \nWhen she’s not teaching\, she is exploring nature\, listening to music\, or pouring into her students as an educator and advocate. Let’s flow together. You already have everything you need.

DESCRIPTION:From their event page:  \nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and Independence Seaport Museum for free paddle boating at FDR Park on select dates in the summer and fall! \nPaddle boats are an easy and safe way for families and people of all ages to explore Edgewood Lake\, just behind the FDR Park Boathouse. As you pedal around\, use the kid-friendly binoculars provided to spot turtles\, ducks\, blooming flowers\, and maybe even a great blue heron – the long-legged shorebird the boats are shaped after. \nThis event is geared toward our FDR Park neighbors. \nChildren must be able to fit into a life jacket (30+ pounds) in order to participate. Waivers will be provided and must be signed before participating. All minors must have an adult available to sign for them. There is no place to store belongings while out on the water\, so we recommend bringing a small bag/waterproof case to store them in. We suggest having at least two people on each boat to balance pedaling; boats cannot hold more than four people.
