Every half hour\, an alternate light show plays to the sounds of holiday classics. \nNew this year\, Winter in Franklin Square features new songs in the Electrical Spectacle Light Show; outdoor fire pits and beautiful indoor heated tents with adult and hot beverages and seasonal food at Franklin’s Winter View; and Center City’s only miniature golf course both daytime and evenings transformed into Chilly Philly Mini Golf presented by IBEW Local 98.

DESCRIPTION:From their event page:  \nThe Wanamaker Light Show presented by PECO is a Philadelphia holiday tradition dating back half a century\, housed in the historic Wanamaker Building. The free show uses more than 100\,000 LED lights to project snowflakes\, ballerinas and reindeer upon a four-story-high velvet curtain in the Grand Court atrium\, accompanied by festive music from the world-renowned Wanamaker Grand Organ. \nThe Light Show will run every hour on the half hour beginning at 12:30 p.m. each day of operation\, with select plays accompanied by live performances of the historic Wanamaker Organ (expect Sundays). Additionally\, Wanamaker Organ concerts will follow the Light Show twice per day\, at approximately 12:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. (12:45 p.m. ONLY on December 24). \nFloors above\, is another holiday tradition: Dickens Village. The 6\,000-square-foot walk-through experience transports visitors to 1840s London with 26 heart-warming scenes from A Christmas Carol and is available with free timed-tickets. Tickets will be available here 5 days in advance of each date starting November 24th.

Explore the physical remains of what is now a hidden trolley network including massive stone tunnels and bridge abutments along this loop hike. \nMore about the Trolley Trail: Fairmount Park Conservancy\, along with partners at Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and the Belmont Plateau Trails Alliance\, have been working to develop the Trolley Trail – a scenic multi-purpose trail that loosely follows the path of the former Fairmount Park Trolley. SUMMARY:Park after Dark: Moonwalk + Stargazing
DESCRIPTION:From their event page:  \nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and astronomer/educator Buddy Muhler for a one-mile guided moonwalk and telescope observation.  \nWe’ll start by using the moonlight to guide us on a short hike along the Lemon Hill Rim Trail – a wooded trail that runs high above Kelly Drive and offers views of the Schuylkill River below. Learn a little about the history of the area as well as the nocturnal animals that call the forest home. \nNext\, we’ll turn our attention to the sky with a guided moon and planet/star observation\, depending on the month. Novice and experienced astronomers alike will be given insights and tips by experienced instructor Buddy Muhler. Each attendee will have the chance to travel close up to the moon’s surface by looking through Buddy’s high-powered telescope! Buddy will discuss the lunar cycles and point out interesting visible surface features such as dark gray mares (seas) and white reflective highlands. We’ll gaze at planets or stars and discuss other astronomical wonders of the night sky. \nIf you’re a lunar lunatic\, this is an evening not to miss!
