Indego’s Neighborhood Ride Guides

Discover Philly like a true local with our Neighborhood Ride Guides! Indego’s Neighborhood Ride Guides are routes catered to give riders a fun and educational experience while exploring the different neighborhoods in Philadelphia. These guides were created in partnership with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia (BCGP) and with the help of local community leaders to ensure that not only are the rides easy, but also informative. Keep reading to learn more about how to use our guides, and see which neighborhood we’ve recently added.

Above is the Washington Ave. Green Route and The Garces Foundation at the Bok Building Routes featured in our South Philadelphia (East of Broad) Ride Guide.

With both new and experienced riders in mind, these ride guides are meant to give everyone a glimpse into some of the many communities that make up Philadelphia. Each guide is packed with themed routes that are not only scenic but also have many notable stops either along the route or within the area of each route. These include local landmarks, historic buildings, public resources, green spaces, and more. Below are some of the locations you can visit.

Our guides also feature some of the important figures who played a major part in developing some of the local resources and shaping the community. Some notable folks are:

Tim Spencer from Mantua, who created the Anti-Graffiti Network in 1984, a program to help the youth transform their graffiti into expressions of art. This program would then eventually turn into what is known as the Mural Arts Program today.

Iris Brown from North Philadelphia, an important community member within the Norris Square neighborhood since the 1970’s. She was a major contributor in developing Las Parcelas, a community garden rooted in Puerto Rican culture, where locals can grow their own plants as well as teach visitors about life in Puerto Rico.

Alan Lomax from Strawberry Mansion was a community champion for his dedication to the community. He worked with the Strawberry Mansion CDC, Friends of East Park, and was an Indego Community Ambassador. He also used his cycling advocacy to help promote healthy living and community involvement within his community.

Our newest ride guide, which was added in June 2025, showcases South Philadelphia (East of Broad St). This guide features many interesting landmarks and two new routes to navigate through this part of South Philly from the Italian Market to Passyunk.

We want to hear from you! Each guide also includes a feedback form at the bottom so you can submit any suggestions on things to add or change. This is so local residents can be involved in helping riders learn more about Philadelphia!
