Building Community: The 2025 Indego Community Ambassador Season

This past season, five women-led organizations partnered with Indego to help introduce bike share in Kensington, Kingsessing, Cobbs Creek, and Mill Creek. The 2025 Indego Community Ambassador team — including the Mill Creek Advisory Council, Global Thinking Initiatives Inc., All Mentees on Board, Ethio Philly, and Esperanza Health Center — hosted rides that connected their communities to green spaces across Philadelphia while sharing resources curated to uplift and support their neighborhoods.

The Mill Creek Advisory Council (MCAC), based in West Philadelphia’s Mill Creek neighborhood, is dedicated to creating a community that centers on family and connection. This season, MCAC hosted an Indego Learn to Ride class and also ventured out on their own, leading an Ambassador-led group ride that highlighted the New Freedom District.

Global Thinking Initiatives Inc., founded by Elaine Wells, can be seen on any given day across the city at green trails and spaces with Tiny Trekkers.  Elaine’s work bridges the world of green with our youngest Philadelphians, helping the community see that nature is the key to life. Philadelphia is alive with green spaces and opportunities to explore and connect with nature.

All Mentees on Board is nestled on a small block in Spring Garden, but their reach extends far beyond it, empowering young girls across the city with life-changing skills that build character and help them navigate the world, where it truly takes a village.

Ethio Philly is the youth division of the Ethiopian Community Association of Greater Philadelphia (ECAGP), which provides community-centered services focused on public health, mental health awareness, and social support for the Ethiopian community. While many of the residents they serve live in Kingsessing, their services are available throughout the city.

Esperanza Health Center is a true community gem, offering care and support with deep compassion. Located at 3222 H Street, the site hosts Hub4Health, a monthly resource fair that provides food, clothing, and other essential resources to community members. This season, Indego was invited to participate in bike garden tours and even learned how the grill can be the perfect place for vegetables.

Do you want to help your community experience freedom of biking? Is your organization a hidden gem that is working to create space and place for your community to thrive?
