Ride of Silence
For the past 22 years, cyclists throughout Greater Philadelphia have come together to ride silently in honor of riders killed or injured by motorists. Although bicyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the public often isn’t aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of cyclists themselves. The goal of this annual, international event is to not have another ride, but to have a year with zero bicyclist deaths.
The 22nd Annual Philadelphia Ride of Silence will be held on Wednesday May 202, from 6:45 PM to 8:00 PM. This ride will start at the North apron of City hall with a short memorial ceremony and slow bike ride that will travel an 8-mile route at 9.5 miles per hour through Center City before ending at the Art Muserum for a meorial bike lift. The ride occurs rain or shine.
