Learn to Ride Class with Black Girl Joy Bike Rides

Join The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, Indego, and Black Girl Joy Bike Rides at the Lucien Blackwell Community Center for a FREE two-hour Learn to Ride class that teaches adults how to ride a bicycle (or remember how to ride a bicycle) as a part of the Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP). Black Girl Joy Bike Ride is a Philadelphia-based community bike ride group founded by Iresha Picot, a licensed behavioral therapist. The group aims to provide Black women with a safe, accessible, and joyful space to cycle, fostering community and promoting self-care through bike rides.
Note: This is a ride exclusively for Black Women. Please respect the space.
This class is designed for adults and teens (ages 14 and up) who want to learn how to ride a bike or refresh their riding skills. This class includes a skill-building bike course that prepares you to ride by the end of the class. BCGP Staff will teach participants how to balance, pedal, start, stop, steer, and shift gears.
Participants will also receive the following:
- -Free Indego Sunglasses
- -Free Indego Helmet
- -Free Indego 30-day pass
- -Free Water bottle
- -Free Better Bike Share Partnership Drawstring bag
*Height Restrictions: The bikes we use for the class are recommended for 5’2″ and up. If you’d like to come out with your bike, please let us know.
