This summer has been one for the history books! As Philadelphia welcomed the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations, thousands of visitors experienced the city alongside Philadelphians celebrating in their own neighborhoods. For Indego, it marked the busiest period in our history. From record-breaking ridership to meeting riders from around the world, here’s a look back at the past few weeks.
How Philly is Riding
From June 11 through today, Indego riders have taken over 178,000 trips, averaging around 6,250 rides every day, a 31% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The tournament has beaten all our previous records, including both Super Bowl parades and the Pope visit in 2015. Now the ten highest ridership days in Indego history have all occurred during the FIFA World Cup™, with our busiest day ever happening on Juneteenth, coming in at 8,820 trips. On that day, 35% of rides were taken with Indego’s casual passes – the Single Ride and Guest Pass – and 65% were taken by local Passholders.
When you add it all up, these rides equate to 402,436 emission-free miles traveled, enough to travel from Philadelphia to every FIFA World Cup 2026™ host city and back more than seven times.
Some stations have become clear fan favorites throughout the tournament, helping riders skip traffic and make the most of their time in Philadelphia.
Our five busiest stations have been:
- Lemon Hill East & West
- 15th & Spruce
- 23rd & Fairmount
- 16th & Chestnut
- Amtrak 30th Street Station
Expanding the System
Preparing for the tournament took months of planning. With support from the City of Philadelphia, our title sponsor Independence Blue Cross, and our partners, Indego installed additional docks near the stadium district and the FIFA Fan Festival™ to accommodate larger crowds and make ending trips easier.
The results:
- Approximately 22,330 trips have either started or ended within one mile of the FIFA Fan Festival™
- More than 4,000 trips started or ended within one mile of Philadelphia Stadium during the tournament
The temporary pop-up stations at Lemon Hill East & West quickly became the top-performing stations in the entire system, helping thousands of riders travel to and from the Fan Festival™ each day.

Behind the Scenes
To meet the increased demand, our team has been working diligently behind the scenes to keep the system running as smoothly as possible. Our operations team has been navigating road closures and changing traffic patterns to rebalance bikes across the city, while our mechanics have worked extended hours to keep the fleet rolling during one of the busiest stretches in Indego’s history. It’s been an all-hands-on-deck effort, and we’re incredibly proud of our entire team for helping deliver a great experience during one of Philadelphia’s biggest moments.
Throughout the tournament, Indego and OTIS staff have been stationed at Broad & Pattison and Lemon Hill East & West, helping manage bike overflow and answer questions. One of the best parts of the tournament has been helping first-time users get rolling, hearing where they traveled from, and seeing so many smiles along the way. We also met countless Philadelphians who decided the tournament was the perfect opportunity to give bike share a try.
The Tournament Isn’t Over Yet
The FIFA World Cup™ isn’t over yet! Whether you’re heading to watch a match, the MLB All-Star festivities, or exploring the city one more time, choose Indego to get there.
Our Lemon Hill East & West pop-up stations will remain open through July 19, making it even easier to ride to and from the FIFA Fan Festival™.
This summer has reminded us that biking can bring people together, and we have loved seeing so many visitors and first-time local riders experience the city on two wheels. As the tournament winds down, here’s to finishing strong, and thank you to everyone who has chosen to ride Indego.
