Indego Community Ambassadors: Impacting One Community at a Time

Building relationships and ensuring that bike share is accessible and equitable throughout communities in Philadelphia is one of the goals of Indego. The Indego Community Ambassador program connects non-profit organizations, whose work engages underserved communities, with Indego bike share. Using Indego as a tool, the Ambassadors work with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia to educate their communities on bike safety, promote healthy choices, and connect with resources in their neighborhoods.

Empowerment is the theme for this year’s Ambassador Season! As the Ambassadors team assembled, we discovered that each group incorporated empowerment as part of their mission statement. Indego is excited to introduce you to the seven organizations that make up this season’s Community Ambassador program!

2019 Rides & Classes

Through advocacy and education, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia is leading the movement to make bicycling a safe and fun way to get around for all Philadelphians. Using Indego bicycles, the Bicycle Coalition hosts educational programs, connecting communities to a convenient, healthy, and affordable transportation option. As this season kicks off, here is a break down of each type of ride and class that is offered, including Indego’s new Champions Program.

Indego Electric is Back!

Last season, Indego introduced ten pedal-assist electric bikes, called Indego Electric, to the fleet as part of an electric bike pilot. The 10-bike pilot was wildly successful and we have been busy planning for an expansion of Indego Electric.

Remembering Indego Legend, Ella Best

Ella Best, a community champion and former Indego Ambassador recently passed away. A lifelong resident of South Philadelphia, Ella was a strong advocate for safety and health in her community. As president and founder of the nonprofit “Don’t Shoot… I Want A Future,” Ella worked to encourage youth to stay focused on positivity and growth through education and physical activity as a way to avoid crime and violence.

Powerful Women Shaping Philly’s Cycling Scene

March is Women’s History Month, which we celebrate by amplifying women’s voices to honor the past, inform the present, and inspire the future. Indego would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to four women who are doing amazing things for cycling in Philadelphia. From leading a national bike share partnership to creating a cycling club that encourages women of color to ride, these women are trailblazers in their communities.
