In 2015, we were fortunate to have 19 Indego Community Ambassadors working with us on bike share outreach. For example, one of our 2015 Ambassadors was Keola Harrington — who you probably recognize from the 2015 Faces of Indego campaign.

In the past few weeks, Indego and the Bicycle Coalition have trained 14 new Indego Community Ambassadors for the 2016 season. These Ambassadors will work to build relationships with community members and introduce them to Indego by hosting bike safety classes, community rides and other events. On the first day of training, the Ambassadors toured the Indego warehouse, learned about how Indego works, tested out the bikes, and discussed ideas for community engagement.

Sign Up for Digital Skills and Bicycle Thrills

The Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP) is an effort led by the City of Philadelphia that works to ensure that Indego is accessible to all Philadelphians.  Indego helps Philadelphians get to all kinds of places, and as we expand to new neighborhoods, we are working with partners to create opportunities for residents to connect with resources in their communities. Indego is committed to offering educational opportunities to help everyone learn to use the system.

Thanks to the Better Bike Share Partnership, the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure & Sustainability (oTIS) is teaming up with Office of Adult Education (OAE) to launch a digital skills training course for adult learners that combines building digital skills with learning about Indego.

There are two cohorts for the program each year: one in Spring and one in the Summer, each running for one month. Participants will learn digital skills at their own pace while completing assignments related to Indego and bike sharing. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a group ride and learn safe cycling skills. Individuals who complete the program will receive a free six-month pass to Indego.

Due to COVID-19, this program is currently paused.

This program is a collaboration between Indego, the Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems, the Better Bike Share Partnership, the Office of Innovation Technology, the Office of Adult Education, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and the KEYSPOT network. The Better Bike Share Partnership is funded by the JBP Foundation.
