Beginner Friendly Group Ride: Cobbs Creek Trail

Fall is here and this month, the Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP) will be hosting its Beginner-Friendly Bike Ride exploring the Cobbs Creek Trail and Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The beginner-friendly bike rides are great for bicyclists who have basic bicycling skills and want to ride on trails that are completely separated from cars. This is a great way to explore new trails, green spaces, and meet other riders. 

The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia (BCGP) Education Team will guide riders on a 3.5 to 5.3-mile ride that is on a car free trail. The ride will begin and end at the Indego station at Cobbs Creek Pwy. & Florence Ave. and Indego Electric bikes will be provided for registered participants. Highlights of the route include the following: 

     -Cobbs Creek Environmental Center 
     -Mount Moriah Cemetery 
     -Informational art installations about local species 
     -Vision Zero – Safe Systems Infrastructure 

Snacks and water will be provided by the BCGP Staff. Free Helmets will also be provided and participants can keep the helmets after the ride (because safety is important for all bicyclists!).

Every ride is led by a trained staff member of the Bicycle Coalition and all participants are expected to follow the Rules of the Road.

     -This ride will be beginner-friendly and at a leisurely pace
     -Free Helmets will be provided for Indego riders
     -Free Swag 
     -Free 30 day pass to ride Indego 
     -Must be 14 to ride an Indego Bike and 16 year old to ride a Indego e-bike

Please let the BCGP ride leaders know about any medical conditions. Indego riders should plan to stay with the group for the entire ride. Reminder: *Only registered participants can join the ride (no walk-ups allowed). The size of this event will be capped at 15 Indego bikes and 15 Bring your own bike  participants*

*Height Restrictions: The bikes we use for the class are recommended for 5′ 2″ and up. If you’d like to come out with your own bike, please let us know.

*Bring your own bike*: If you own a bike, please feel free to register and join us for the ride. Please make sure your bike is in a safe and operating condition before the event. If the bike is deemed unsafe by a Bicycle Coalition staff member, then you will not be able to ride. All registered participants must wear a helmet in order to participate. No exceptions.

    Riders must be at least 16 years old to check out an Indego electric bike. Minors (under 18) need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at least 18 years old during the ride. Indego is pleased to be of service to you at this event by loaning you an Indego bike share bicycle for demonstration or use during this event. Please review the following procedures & ensure your understanding before you ride the Indego bicycle we have issued to you. I understand that this bicycle is a vehicle and is subject to all vehicular laws which I agree to abide by. I assume all risks and hazards involved with cycling and assume all personal liability in case of injury. I have read and agree to the Indego User Agreement . I have been properly instructed in, and fully understand the use of the quick release mechanisms, brakes, gears, suspension, and all foot retention devices on this bicycle. In consideration of the services provided to me by Indego or the product loaned to me by Indego, in the event of an occurrence, accident, or loss while operating my bicycle or the Indego bike share bicycle, I hereby agree to release and hold harmless Indego, Bicycle Transit Systems, Independence Blue Cross, the City of Philadelphia, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and all employees of each respective entity, from any and all claims and causes of action, liabilities, costs or losses for property damage or physical or mental injuries, relating to or in any manner connected with the equipment loaned to me by the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. I also agree that this release binds my spouse, heirs, legal representatives, and assigns. I acknowledge that this Indego bicycle has been loaned to me in sound mechanical condition, and will be returned in the same condition, at or before the end of the event. I grant to Indego, the right to take photographs and/or video of me in connection with the above-identified event. I authorize INDEGO, its assigns and transferees to copyright, use and publish the same in print and/or electronically. I agree that INDEGO may use such photographs and/or video of me with or without my name and for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and web content. I HAVE READ THE ABOVE STATEMENTS AND I UNDERSTAND THAT BY CHECKING THIS BOX I AGREE TO ALL OF THESE CONDITONS. For minors: please note and have a parent/legal guardian sign for them instead!
